Lesson Scheduling and Attendance
-
Private lessons are offered in 30 or 60-minute sessions.
-
Lessons will either be taught at the University of Michigan SMTD or on Zoom if I am out of town.
-
Lessons are given once a week, but I would highly recommend having two 30-minute lessons a week for beginners for the first few months.
-
Please give me at least a 24-hour notice for lesson cancellations, unless it’s an emergency. The missed lesson will not be refunded, but it will be rescheduled to another time. Last minute cancellations will not be rescheduled unless I have an opening.
-
If a lesson is rescheduled to another month, the bill for the next month will not be charged extra since it was already paid for in the previous month.
-
Tardiness of 15+ minutes or no-shows will not have rescheduled lessons unless it is an emergency and lessons will not be refunded.
-
If students are sick, please let me know as soon as possible.
-
Summer lesson scheduling is TBD every year. In general, I will be away for at least 2 months and will offer weekly or bi-weekly Zoom lessons. I will also ask students to send weekly recordings for me to provide feedback on.

Financial Policies
-
Lessons are billed at the beginning of each month and must be paid by the first lesson of each month.
-
Missed payments incur a weekly $10 fee.
-
If the first lesson starts in the middle of a month, the bill will include the next month's lessons in addition to the lessons started in the middle of the month. Afterward, the bill will be monthly at the beginning of the month.
-
Checks, Zelle, Venmo, and PayPal are all acceptable. The total cost of the bill equals the amount of anticipated lessons for the month. Please contact me for lesson rates.
-
Missed lessons will not be refunded, but they can be rescheduled under certain circumstances (more details in the next section below).

Performance Expections:
-
Student performances and competition participation varies per student, but I encourage students to perform as much as they can in local events. More details will be discussed between myself, the parents, and the student as events approach.

Interview Process:
-
There will be a one-hour interview that includes questions for the student and parents, as well as a trial lesson prior to entering my studio.

Practice Expectations:
-
Students must have a proper instrument to practice on at home. Please contact me for any instrument recommendations.
-
Students are expected to practice 5-7 days a week.
-
Please feel free to call, text, or email me between 10AM and 8PM for any questions, rescheduling, etc., and I will respond to you as soon as I can within those hours.

Reminders:
-
The student, teacher, and parents are all one team! Healthy communication is extremely valued and important for the student's growth.
-
Parental support is crucial for all students, particularly pertaining to young beginners. It would be ideal for a parent to supervise their child's practice every day in an environment free from noise and distractions.
